The library of San Javier in collaboration with the Department of Social Services and the Association of Relatives and Friends of Alzheimer's, AFAL Cartagena and region, hosts the film series "Seats for Alzheimer's. Cinema for remembrance" to be held all Friday May at 19: 30h with the screening of four films that address the disease from different perspectives.
With this action the library of San Javier wants to contribute to the visualization of disease in our society, said the councilman of Culture David Martinez, who claimed the library as a diffuser hub of culture and information, during the presentation of the cycle, by the coordinator libraries, Toni Diaz and aging specialist and representative of AFAL, Raul Nieto, in the municipality of San Javier.
The cycle will begin next Friday, May 6 with the screening of "Pandora's Box" directed by Yesim Ustaoglu and set in Turkey, which won the Golden Shell for Best Film at the San Sebastian Festival in 2008.
On Friday May 13 will focus caregivers of people suffering from Alzheimer with the film "Caretakers" (2010) by Oskar Tejedor.
On Friday 20 May will see the recent award-winning "Still Alice" (2014), Richard Glatzer, Wash Westmoreland starring Julianne Moore won the Golden Globe and the Oscar for her performance in the film.
Finally it will be screened on Friday May 27 "Wrinkles" by Ignacio Ferreras, adult animated film based on the eponymous comic Juan Roca, winner of the Goya for Best Animated Film in 2011.
The film series will be preceded by a talk and discussion will take place on Wednesday 4 May at 20: 00h under the title "Live without losing the memories" in which the specialist in aging Raul Nieto Galera tackle Alzheimer's disease from its first signals, providing techniques to combat oblivion.
The talk fits into the collaborative training program that keeps the library giving citizens the opportunity to share their knowledge in any subject with the rest.
