The Vice Chancellor of Education and Information at the University of Murcia, Pedro Miralles announced today in San Javier, during the presentation of the courses of the International University of the Sea which will be held in San Javier next summer, the municipality will become a of the permanent headquarters of University Extension of the UMU.
Accompanied by the Councillor for Education of San Javier, Catalina Pérez, Pedro Miralles explained that the permanent headquarters of San Javier "that is about to materialize" will feature a physical space, which could be in the Faculty of Sport Sciences, and an assigned teacher who is responsible for the management of the venue where activities are held throughout the whole year and not only in summer.
On the nature of the activities that could be programmed he explained that in addition to those related to teaching, could have conferences and congresses of the UMU, own studies as a Senior Classroom University Extension for over 50 years, which could even be offered in English, to welcome foreign population in the area, as well as cultural activities with classroom theater, choir and orchestra of the University of Murcia.
Miralles highlighted the importance it could have on the permanent headquarters of San Javier university extension of the research-related activity "taking advantage of the research capacity of the Faculty of Sport Sciences noted for its extensive research production".
The dean of the Faculty of Sports Science, Arturo Diaz, who also participated in the event, highlighted the commitment to quality of UMU, "as evidenced by the support offered to this faculty that leads the ranking in Social Science Research University of Murcia ".
Diaz added that both the City of San Javier as UMU believe that here is no future as evidenced by the announcement by the Vice Chancellor of the permanent headquarters of university extension, and recalled that "although there seems to be competition," the Faculty, "the best of the Region Sports Science ", works to grow with the studies of Dance and Performing Arts.
