The 47th International Festival of Theatre, Music and Dance has it created the I Amateur Theatre Competition "Francisco Rubio" with which "we look back and rediscover the origins of the Festival and give an opportunity to amateur theater groups," said this morning the mayor of Culture and director of the Festival, David Martinez during the presentation of the foundations of this first contest to be held from October 28 to November 18.
David Martinez explained that the competition is carried out with the collaboration of the theater group San Javier that 47 years ago was called "Oscar 69" and the momentum of its director Francisco Rubio created the I Contest of Amateur Theatre of San Javier this year celebrates its 47th edition reconverted International Festival of Theatre, Music and Dance, and one of the most traditional cultural events and prestige of the Region of Murcia.
The new Amateur Theatre Competition is open to groups of Spanish amateur theater may submit their registration in the Department of Culture of the City of San Javier until 31 August.
Among all entries four groups that will perform every Friday from October 28 to November 18 in the theater of "Prince of Asturias" center of Santiago de la Ribera, home of the Contest will be selected.
The prizes are the best group of 2,000 euros;
Best Director, worth 800 euros, and best actor and actress, both protagonist and distribution that will get a trophy.
The jury will be composed of actors of the theater group San Javier and academics, leadership and theater program in the region.
The closing of the Contest will be held on November 19 with the awards ceremony after the performance of "The Imaginary Invalid" by the local theater group San Javier.

David Martinez was accompanied by Javier Lopez, who lived in first person the creation of the Festival, as part of the local group "Oscar 69" and recalled the figure of Francisco Rubio who is dedicated the new Contest, showing the brochure of that first edition , which has kept it all this time.
Javier Lopez, who continues to act in local theater group, recalled how was the pastor of time "which introduced us to a friend of Murcia who liked the theater," in order to help the young group of actors who just arise in San Javier.
So Francisco Rubio arrived in San Javier where he founded the "Oscar 69" group with young actors who convinced her to launch an Amateur Theatre Competition "Rubio wanted to get converted into International, a dream that soon came true" recalls veteran local actor, reminiscent as already in the first years passed large groups of the moment as Joglars, La Cuadra or Dagoll Dagom, among others by San Javier.
Group President Teatro San Javier, José Pardo welcomed the initiative of the Festival "with which it is an honor to participate directly and that is a compliment for us expected and objective."
Leonor Benitez, director of many productions of Grupo San Javier, thanks also to the Department of Culture "to make this dream come true" and announced some detail the production of "The Imaginary Invalid" by Molière, in which the local group works for presentation at the Festival next August 8th at 22: 30h.
Leonor promised fun and hard work "for the public of San Javier always has clothed us filling the auditorium as I hope to continue doing on 8 August."
