The mayor, José Miguel Luengo, Councillor for the Environment, Antonio Luengo, Councilwoman Multiple Services, Maria Dolores Ruiz and manager Ecovidrio, Roberto Fuentes presented today the 2016 Summer Plan which aims to take advantage of the summer season, when an increase in the consumption of glass containers, to raise awareness and increase recycling glass collection in the municipality of San Javier occurs.
The campaign focuses on the hospitality sector where a large number of empty containers is generated and already has the participation of 108 bars and restaurants in the city to which it will provide more means to facilitate recycling, such as containers with lever system facilitates emptying in any igloo public roads, or smaller containers according to local needs.
The challenge has been established this year for the 93 Spanish municipalities like San Javier participate in the Summer campaign it is to increase the collection by 10% over last year.
The municipality of San Javier overcame the challenge last summer to grow by 12% to 24% reaching a total of 410 tonnes of glass, only in the summer months and mostly from the hospitality sector.
Both the mayor, José Miguel Luengo as the mayors of Environment, Antonio Luengo and Multiple Services, Maria Dolores Ruiz reiterated the commitment of local government to recycling has increased significantly in the last year, recalled the mayor of Multiple Services thanks the constant awareness campaigns and improved and increased infrastructure that facilitates citizens recycling of urban waste.
Precisely with containers Ecovidrio located in the Barnuevo of Santiago Esplanade de la Ribera, where the presentation of the campaign was conducted, the information stand with the Department of Environment takes this summer to the beaches campaign "was my waste my treasure ", with which the public is invited to bring recyclable materials in exchange for a small gift.
The initiative is accompanied with the Game of the Goose that the Department of Environment has taken throughout the course to schools so that more young people understand and become aware with the daily habit of recycling.
