The general director of Rural and Forestry Development, Federico García Izquierdo, accompanied by the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, and technical counseling visited this morning the roads of Los Garneses, Lo Llerena and Los Rastrojos, in the municipality of San Javier , part of the call for the development of actions to improve rural roads.
The amount of the planned works is 135,000 euros, funded by the Ministry.
Izquierdo Garcia recalled that "for this year are three million euros that will put 50 roads in 23 municipalities."
For this first call 35 municipalities submitted applications and 81 have been selected renovation and improvement.
In San Javier will act on the road to Los Garneses, with a length of 1,434 meters, in the way of what Llerena, with an area of ​​1,107 meters, and Los Rastrojos, with 410 meters long.
Planned work involving the expansion of the road up to 5 meters, improving the firm with artificial gravel and layer of asphalt rolling, strengthening the vertical signage and construction of engineering structures necessary for the evacuation of rainwater as speed bumps and concrete pipes.
The Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martinez-Cacho, last week presented the results of the first call-of April 2016 in which the rehabilitation and improvement of roads in the Community is included.
To select these improvement projects has taken into account the connection of roads with farms, livestock and rural communities, as well as the regional highways, other roads and cattle trails.
It has also assessed the state of the roads, giving priority to those who have suffered extraordinary damage caused by natural disasters such as torrential rains.
The CEO noted that "the regional government is a priority that rural areas are provided with adequate infrastructure to allow access to farms, adequate mobility and communication with nearby towns and rural villages scattered".
Rural Roads Plan 2016-2020
These actions are part of rural roads plan includes an investment of 16.17 million euros for the 2016-2020 period, financed with direct investments of the Community co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
According to forecasts, the work will enable proper management and planning of more than 6,000 kilometers of rural roads, expansion and improvement of the road surface and the horizontal and vertical signage at more than 600 kilometers.
