Note the City of overflow sewer in La Manga (21/08/2016)

In relation to the overflow of the sewage by a manhole cover that occurred last night in the Gran Via de La Manga, at the height of Castillos de Mar, the City of San Javier reports the following:

The incident was caused by an electrical fault, related to the overall energy supply, without there being any pipe or collector rupture, as the report notes the company responsible for maintenance of pumping stations La Manga.

The protocol was launched immediately after receiving a call at 20:44 h through 112 in which reported the overflow from a manhole cover.

This notice is passed at 20:53 to public services by giving notice to the company whose technicians personan in the pumping station to perform the appropriate checks.

Beaches both staff and the Municipal Utility start working, being restored normalcy in the area affected by the flooding about two hours later.

Once at the station pumping equipment guard the maintenance company, checks the correct manual operation of the pumping stations observed, in reviewing the electrical panel, the circuit breaker that protects the power buoys level it is triggered by an electrical fault that left disabled the automatic start of the pumps.

Once reset switch correct operation is checked automatically pumps n1, n2 and n3, proceeding to quicken the collector and interior water pumping normally.

After this several tests that confirm proper operation in automatic pumps are made.

The Councillor for Tourism and Beaches Antonio Martinez, mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, and the Councillor for Public Services Maria Dolores Ruiz rushed to the area where they remained until, once restored to normal, the latest safety checks were carried out on the proper functioning of the system.

From the municipality of San Javier we want to emphasize that this is a pitiful, oblivious to the internal system of pumping stations, whose renewal decision the City Council has invested together with sanitation since 2012, more than 2 million euros without having produced any effect, and improve its maintenance with a new contract recently awarded to the company Aquambiente.

The area that could be affected by this overflow, Castillos de Mar, the Mar Menor is a canal boat that is not open to the bathroom normally despite which is prohibited until the results of the analysis of water they have made this afternoon.

The City of San Javier regrets the inconvenience caused to residents and users, and is committed to continue working to avoid as much as possible this type of incidents.
