The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo and the new pastor of San Javier, Antonio Jose Palazón signed this morning the renewal of the collaboration agreement that keeps the City of San Javier with Caritas San Javier which will involve the annual contribution of 26,000 euros from the municipal budget humanitarian organization to develop its work in the locality.
The manager of Caritas San Javier, Francisco Griñó, who accompanied the pastor and president of the organization in the municipality, explained that the money received will be mainly for direct aid to people without resources to pay bills and to purchase food, but the greater contribution made today in food Bank allows more resources to other uses, he said.
Caritas San Javier has about 50 volunteers working in various helplines that the entity remains active and includes "The Ropería" operating successfully since its opening a year ago in a shop located on the street Alcantara.
Griñó explained that Caritas San Javier currently serves about 140 families of which most are of Spanish nationality.
Similar to last year, a figure moves away from the 220 families who attended in the center of the economic crisis.
Mayor Jose Miguel Luengo reiterated the municipal support to Caritas for the "great work being carried out in emergency aid to people who need it most."
Luengo emphasized the good result that is giving collaboration with Caritas Social Services in the village and thanked the volunteers' dedication and commitment to devote part of their time to others. "
