The recent death of an elderly lady in the municipality of Reus in view of the impossibility of paying the bill for the light should remind us all of the existence of groups with special vulnerability.
These kinds of situations are dramatic manifestations that the problem of the energetic poverty lasts in the society.
In the face of this type of situation, it is necessary to establish protection measures in an urgent and necessary manner.
The Socialist Party presented in the Congress of Deputies a proposal of Law of protection of the vulnerable consumers and against the energetic poverty.
All these initiatives were overtaken by the PP.
On the other hand, it is imperative to sign agreements with power companies in order to establish a channel of communication that allows not to suspend the supply or to reinstate it with urgency.
In short, it is the application of measures to prevent a family without resources having to be debated between eating or paying the light.
For all this, the Socialist Municipal Group asks the Government Team:
1 st.
That the necessary mechanisms be established to expedite the bureaucracy in the Social Services of this City Council, so that there is no collapse in the family unit.
That is to say to establish preventive measures and that the aids can be perceived month by month instead of once a year.
2º That agreements be signed with the different electric operators, so that they communicate in the first place to the City Council the light cuts provided, in order that the Social Services have prior knowledge of those that are going to be produced and with the necessary advance Relevant mitigation measures are applied.
3º.
That in the next budgets an emergency fund is collected to guarantee the supply of electricity.
