UNICEF Murcia Committee presented to the municipalities of the Region that have received this year the recognition of Child Friendly Cities (CAI) by UNICEF Spanish Committee among which San Javier along with Murcia, Cieza and Lorquí, together with Archena That obtained a mention by Good Practices.
The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo accompanied by the Councilor for Social Services, Estíbaliz Masegosa attended the presided presentation, chaired by Amparo Marzal, president of UNICEF Murcia Committee, along with mayors of other municipalities recognized in the call for 2016.
Luengo reiterated the commitment in which this recognition for the City of San Javier becomes "where we have already established the mechanisms that allow us to incorporate the voice and decisions of our children and adolescents in municipal management."
The mayor recalled that San Javier had requested for the first time this recognition with the aim of improving municipal actions related to children and to be part of the CAI Network.
The head of UNICEF in Murcia, Amparo Marzal thanked the municipalities for their commitment and the effort made and urged all mayors of CAI municipalities to continue working on the lines of the program to promote the fulfillment of children's rights, both in Its municipal scope as well as globally.
