The Councilor for Security María Teresa Foncuberta has reported the purchase by the City of San Javier of 12 new defibrillators that together with the existing 31 total a total of 43 DESA equipment, "which distributed in different buildings and public services converts San Javier in a cardioprotected municipality ".
In addition to public buildings, all Civil Protection vehicles are equipped with DESA units, so all preventives in which municipal emergency services participate include defibrillators, including festivals, parties, and sporting events.
Foncuberta explained that in the distribution of the 43 public defibrillators, schools have been included where a total of 10 units will be transferred out of the 22 that the surveillance and rescue service has on beaches.
The 10 teams that will serve in the schools from September to June, corresponds to the positions of surveillance in beaches that only open in July and August.
Public buildings with defibrillators are the City Hall, the Security Center, the library, the civic centers of San Javier, Santiago de la Ribera, El Mirador, Roda, and La Manga del Mar Menor, municipal tents, and the auditorium.
In the sports center of San Javier there will be four teams, distributed in the football field, main pavilion, auxiliary pavilions and heated swimming pool.
The sports pavilions of El Mirador La Manga del Mar Menor will have a DESA team, each one.
Also will count with a defibrillator the schools "Our Lady of the Rosary", of the Mirador, "Fulgencio Ruiz", of Santiago de la Ribera;
"Our Lady of Loreto", of Santiago de la Ribera, and the schools "Joaquín Carrión", "Severo Ochoa", and "La Paz" of San Javier, as well as the IES "Mar Menor" and "Ruiz de Alda" And the Conservatory of Music.
The Civil Protection Unit has three DESA units in the ambulances, another three in the vehicles, and another in the field hospital.
The 18 Civil Protection posts on beaches have one unit each, during their opening period according to the season, which are added to four other mobile units in the vehicles of the coordinators.
