The director general of Water, Andrés Martínez announced today at the San Javier City Hall that the drainage project would prevent the adverse effects of torrential rains in the neighborhood of Los Ríos, near the IES Mar Menor, and Neighborhood of Los Pescadores, will begin throughout the month of March.
Andres Martinez, who presented to the mayor, José Miguel Luengo and a group of affected residents, the project proposal prepared by his department, explained that it is a series of collectors that would capture water from the vicinity of the highway and Pitin , Whose works will begin, predictably, at the end of this year, or early 2018.
The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo stressed that the project, which involves the reinforcement of the existing collectors in the street Cabo Huertas that lead to the storm tank located next to the AGA, materializes the commitment acquired in San Javier by the counselor Water, Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martínez-Cachá, before the request of the Government team to solve the flood episodes that this part of the urban case suffers.
Luengo highlighted the fact that the project includes a solution to be able to take advantage of all this water from runoff by directing it to the treatment plant to reuse it as irrigation water through a possible expansion of the San Javier treatment plant.
The mayor stressed that the project already has an exclusive item in the budget of the Autonomous Community, and emphasized that the experience of the last floods of December suffered in San Javier will optimize the project whose proposal was already underway.
