The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and the Environment has begun to draft the construction of new collectors in the neighborhood of Los Rios in Santiago de la Ribera, the municipality of San Javier, which will allow the diversion of waters so that they do not reach the sea Less.
The director general of the water, Andrés Martínez, held today a meeting with the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, technicians of the City council and neighbors of the environment, to explain the details and the objectives that are pursued with the new infrastructures.
The actions, framed in the Plan Verzas Zero to the Mar Menor of lamination of avenues, will have a main manifold and two branches that will divert the waters to a raft of lagoon of the old purifier of San Javier.
The director general of Water stressed that the diversion of these waters will allow "to make available water for farmers in the area, in addition to preventing those surface waters from reaching the Mar Menor."
In addition to the new actions, the meeting also agreed to renew the collectors of the Paseo de Colón de Santiago de la Ribera, "to ensure the proper functioning of the same," Martínez explained.
The municipality of San Javier has a network of collectors about 15 kilometers, in which the regional government has invested in the last 15 years about 10 million euros.
