Councilor for Environment Antonio Luengo yesterday visited the facilities of the Abraham Project Association, with which the City Council has a collaboration agreement for the collection of clothing, toys and used footwear in the municipality.
The leaders of the Association, who held an open day yesterday, showed the social and environmental work they do focused on both the socio-labor insertion and the care of people at risk of exclusion.
From Project Abraham they explained the multiple destiny that is given to the used clothes, that is collected in the containers distributed in the public thoroughfare.
The clothing, once selected, is destined to the two thrift stores that it has open to the public, or it is distributed through the regional closet.
The one considered non-reusable is destined to recycling industries and to the workshops and courses of sewing and repair that organizes the own Association, that collaborates with the City council of San Javier by means of the organization of workshops and courses on diverse offices.
The Councilor for the Environment Antonio Luengo praised the work carried out by Project Abraham during his visit to the facilities, both social and environmental since it is based on recycling and reuse.
