The Department of Health together with the company Sprineco, in charge of the service of collection of abandoned animals found on the public highway in the municipality, has carried out a campaign of awareness for children to live with pets with children of 5 ° and 6 ° Primary in different schools of the municipality.
The CEIP El Recuerdo hosted yesterday the last day of the campaign in which a veterinarian Sprineco explained to students different aspects related to having a dog at home as food, care and health care, civic behavior, races and dangerous dogs .
A local police officer from San Javier completed the talk with a review of the one established in the municipal ordinance on animal possession, which among other things provides for a fine for not collecting animal excrement in the street.
Councilor for Education Catalina Perez, who attended this last session of the campaign, stressed the importance of influencing the awareness of children, who are especially receptive since most have dogs at home.
Catalina Perez reminded the children that at this time is when more dog dropouts occur, a regrettable situation for the animal that also generates social consequences.
The children were given the essential message that a dog is not a toy and that before giving, adopting or buying a dog one has to ask if one can face the responsibility of having a pet at home and acting accordingly.
The idea of adoption is also promoted, once a dog is decided, since the protectors are full of animals that were mostly abandoned and could have a home again.
