The Ministry of Presidency and Promotion will tender to the next month of August works to improve communications in the roundabout Pozo Aledo, located in the municipality of San Javier and connecting this town with the RM-19, which arrives Until Murcia, and the highway AP-7, that unites the municipality with Cartagena and the province of Alicante.
The Minister of Presidency and Promotion, Pedro Rivera, said today to the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, that the action "will be an important improvement of the intersection" since it will allow drivers to make traffic movements that they can not now carry out, Such as driving from San Javier and Pozo Aledo to Cartagena.
To do this, the roundabout, which gives access to Pozo Aledo, will have a direct link to the motorway in order to improve traffic and make it possible to travel between Alicante, San Javier and Cartagena.
Rivera said that this action "will increase road safety in the roundabout and will give greater fluidity to traffic in the area," where more than 19,000 vehicles circulate daily from the RM-19 regional dual carriageway.
The project, which is already drafted, will be put out to tender throughout August with the aim of proceeding with its awarding to begin work at the end of the year.
In this same intersection, the General Direction of Roads already undertook a project of conditioning and improvement of the visibility.
The works consisted in the modification of part of the central islet to improve the visibility of the vehicles that access to the roundabout from Pozo Aledo and the construction of a deflecting islet in the incorporation to the same from the hamlet of San Javier.
