The General Director of Citizen Security and Emergencies, José Ramón Carrasco, today picked up two Distinguished Service Diplomas that have been awarded by the City of San Javier to the General Directorate and the Consortium for Fire Extinguishing and Rescue of the Region of Murcia (CEIS ) "For the merits incurred in connection with the flood episode last December."
The act of delivery took place in the Plenary Hall of the City Council, and in the course of it were also distinguished groups and volunteers of Civil Protection, rescue and fire services of the General Air Academy and San Javier Airport, students And teachers of the cycles of Diving and Emergency and Civil Protection of the Integrated Center of Professional Training 'Hespérides', citizens and companies.
The director general of the Mar Menor, Antonio Luengo, also participated in the delivery of distinctions and recognitions organized by the coastal municipality.

During the flood event between December 18 and 19, 2016, the Region 1-1-2 Murcia Emergency Center managed in the municipality of San Javier, almost 400 issues related to the heavy rainfall on those dates .
Most of them were gypsum and rescue of people who had been isolated (or trapped inside vehicles) as a result of water.
However, the presence of emergency services continued for several days, following the rainy season, in tasks that consisted mainly of water drainage in buildings and flooded areas and in the cleaning of mud.
