The Committee of Industry, Labor, Commerce and Tourism of the Regional Assembly has unanimously approved a Citizens' initiative for the International Jazz Festival of San Javier to be declared of National Tourist Interest.

The enormous prestige of the invited artists and the great acceptance of the public have meant that the San Javier Jazz Festival has become one of the most important in Spain within its genre.
This circumstance has provided an economic and tourist boost for the Mar Menor region and, by extension, for much of the Region of Murcia.
In this regard, Sánchez has highlighted "that in any discipline is very difficult to bring the best in the world and the organization of the International Jazz Festival of San Javier, has done, which has become a must for lovers of This musical genre.
The festival has reached a dimension that is well above the Declaration of Regional Tourist Interest it has so far ".
Cs spokesman has noted that "we must recognize the enormous merit that the organizers had in launching such an ambitious project, although the tricky thing has been to make the importance of this festival increase year after year.
Throughout its 20 editions have paraded artists such as BB King, Van Morrison, Paul Anka, John Fogerty or George Benson, who will return to act this year.
