The Institute of Development (Info) today presented a study that has identified 22 business sites linked to nautical leisure in San Javier, and which has been developed within the project Free Trade Zones, an initiative launched by the Community in a way Experimental, whose objective is to assess the entrepreneurial potential of the municipalities.
Specifically, these centers of entrepreneurship are expected to create about 25 companies by 2020, which in turn could generate up to 75 jobs in the municipality.
The director of the Info, Joaquín Gómez, presented today this report together with the mayor of the municipality, José Miguel Luengo, and pointed out that "the nautical potential of San Javier is very significant, but suffers from certain deficiencies motivated in part by its consideration as hobby or Their high seasonality. "
However, he added that "these characteristics, which are offset by the high professionalism of its business fabric, can be corrected with greater integration and collaboration that generates synergies among all activities in areas such as management, promotion and commitment to the innovation".
Gómez stressed that "this study offers opportunities for entrepreneurs and companies to develop innovative initiatives that improve business competitiveness and contribute to generating new jobs."
The report, entitled 'Study of business opportunities in the nautical sector', identifies those activities that are most attractive to the public, such as sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, sailing or scuba diving.
Around these and other activities of nautical character in the municipality of San Javier and linked to the Mar Menor, stands out the opportunity to develop systems of tracking of regattas, apps for the practice of nautical sports, thematic accommodations, nautical tourism travel agencies , Digital consultancies for tourist SMEs, manufacture of intelligent umbrellas, experiences of nautical ecotourism or a social network for athletes.
Likewise, it contemplates the possible creation of a center of nautical sports specialized in kitesurf, windsurf, kiteborad or paddle surf.
An initiative that would consist, as it is carried out in other destinations, to have a series of mobile floating infrastructures oriented to the use of the sportsmen, as a nautical sports park.
Another of the proposed opportunities is the implementation of a digital platform that acts as a tourist advisor, with the aim of advising visitors to the Mar Menor area about the activities, sports or events that take place around them adapted to their Tastes and preferences, with the intention of offering them unique experiences and, at the same time, enhancing the function carried out by tourist information offices.
The business fabric of San Javier has experienced an average growth rate of 40 companies per year since 2009.
The Zonas Francas de Empreendimiento project is being implemented in three other locations in the Region, Caravaca de la Cruz, with entrepreneurial sites linked to the Jubilee Year;
La Unión, where the opportunities arising from its mining and Flemish tradition have been studied, and Cartagena, with great business potential for diving.
