The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Adela Martínez-Cachá, today visited San Javier, where she met with the mayor, José Miguel Luengo, to address the educational situation of the municipality and program coordinated actions for improvement in schools.
At the end of the meeting, the head of Education, Youth and Sports announced her commitment to start the expansion of the Institute of Secondary Education (IES) Mar Menor, on a plot adjacent to the current facility that was ceded by the City Council to the Community With that goal.
Adela Martinez-Cachá explained that "the expansion of the IES Mar Menor will consist of the construction of a new classroom for students of the different training cycles, but that are being taught in municipal departments."
Martinez-Cachá also reported that "it is planned to build several sports tracks to improve the teaching of the training cycle of Higher Technician in Sports Physical Activities."
The works are expected to begin in the first half of 2018.
The action is in the economic study and drafting phase of the project, in order to budget for the next year the cost of the work.
The minister also announced that in the coming months will be carried out works at the school Joaquín Carrión Valverde, which consist of the replacement of carpentry and have a budget of 36,295 euros.
In addition, Martínez-Cachá recalled that, during this course, the CEIP 'El Recuerdo' has invested 7,000 euros in the paving of outdoor spaces.
