The Mar Menor will host the "Endurance Swim Mar Menor", a circuit of swimming trips to be held on September 3, and on October 1 and 15 with headquarters in San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcazares and San Javier respectively, With a forecast of more than 600 open sea swimmers.
The director general of Sports Alonso Gómez, the director general of the Mar Menor Antonio Luengo, presented today at the Center of Nautical Activities of San Pedro del Pinatar this new initiative which aims to promote the Mar Menor as an ideal space for the practice of this Sport, along with Aitor Jiménez representative of the organizing company.
The councilors of Sports of the three municipalities, Estíbaliz Masegosa, of San Javier;
Nicolás Ruiz de Los Alcázares and Daniel Pérez from San Pedro del Pinatar, who attended the presentation, showed their support for this test that offers three distances in each of them to facilitate the participation of both amateurs and experts in the open sea.
The first test will start from San Pedro del Pinatar on 3 September with a maximum distance of 3000 meters.
As in the other two venues the average and minimum distances will be 1,500 and 500 meters respectively.
The Alcázares will host the second test on October 1 with departure from Perdiguera Island and a maximum distance of 6000 meters.
In San Javier the start will be in La Manga and the goal will be in Santiago de la Ribera with a maximum distance of 5000 meters.
The director general of Sports Alonso Gómez stressed that "once again a sporting event means something more" since it is also a question of claiming the Mar Menor and its uses.
In the same terms was expressed by the director general of the Mar Menor Antonio Luengo who placed the initiative within "the commitment of the regional government to promote the Mar Menor."
