The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo today stressed the commitment of the president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, to promote the procedures that lead to the construction of the sports facilities of the UMU Sports Campus in San Javier, after the meeting that both have held in the Palacio de San Esteban in Murcia.
José Miguel Luengo explained that the Autonomous Community will work in a coordinated way with the University of Murcia to provide the Campus with sports facilities that will be built on municipal land and that will serve both students of the Physical Education and Sports Degree, neighbors as a second municipal sports center that would give Santiago de la Ribera a football field, among other facilities.
At a press conference, after the meeting, which lasted for one hour, Luengo thanked the President's commitment to the creation of the Center for Aeronautical Culture that is intended to be built at the AGA with access from the Paseo Colón de Santiago de la Ribera.
The mayor of San Javier said that the City of San Javier and the Air Force have already begun talks to start up this initiative that would become a great cultural and cultural resource not only for the municipality but for the whole Region.
The mayor of San Javier and President Fernando López Miras addressed other issues in progress for the municipality as the extension of the IES "Mar Menor", which will regroup professional education, and whose project works will be presented before the end of the year, confirmed the Mayor.
Regarding Education, José Miguel Luengo transferred to the Regional President other demands such as the need to expand funding for the San Javier Regional Conservatory and other necessary investments in the oldest schools in the municipality.
In terms of public works, José Miguel Luengo said that the President, who was strongly committed to the recovery and protection of the Mar Menor, informed him that before the end of the year the works of storm collector in the urban area of ​​San Javier with the first section from the rambla that runs along Calle Jabalina.
Luengo stressed the importance for the City Council of this project that is essential for San Javier in order to avoid the adverse effects caused by episodes of heavy rains.
Among many other issues, the mayor sent the President the concern manifested by farmers in the municipality in the face of the problem caused by the scarcity of water that endangers plantations.
