The Department of Environment has today celebrated the "Day without cars", within the European Mobility Week, with students of 2nd Primary Education of schools "Severo Ochoa", "El Mirador", "El Recuerdo" and "La Paz", as well as with a group of the Center of Elderly People, of San Javier, in the Road Education Park.
The Councilor for the Environment, Antonio Martínez explained that it is a question of influencing road education among the youngest with the support of the Local Police in the usual circuits, while encouraging the use of bicycles and helmets, or the habit of walking against polluting means of mobility to move in the urban environment.
The children, who have been arriving in groups in a staggered way throughout the morning, have been distributed among cyclists or policemen and with the advice of two police officers have practiced on a circuit that reproduces an urban plot with pedestrian crossings, crossings with traffic signs, and roundabouts.
The goal is to improve their road safety when it comes to walking or cycling, explained the councilor who announced the drafting of a sustainable urban mobility plan with cycling protagonism.
The Department of Environment has taken the opportunity to add to this action the "Muévete reciclando" activity with which this summer has toured the beaches with a fun games of questions and awards that children found at different stations along the route the circuit of road education.
