The Belénista Murciano Jesús Griñán concludes in these days the process of restoration of the totality of the pieces of the Bethlehem of Spain, of San Javier that this year celebrates its 50 anniversary with a renewed assembly and with all its glittering pieces.
The mayor Jose Miguel Luengo and the councilman of Culture David Martínez visited the workshop of the artisan Jesus Griñán through which have passed a thousand figures of the nativity of San Javier, many of them with 50 years of history, coming mainly from the workshops the missing Pedro Serrano and Jesus Griñán himself.
David Martinez explained that the process of restoration, which lasted two years, consisted in the removal of polychromy and recomposition of the mutilated figures, to be treated and polychromed again, recovering their original appearance according to the traditional techniques of the Nativity of Murcia.
The Mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo highlighted the "excellent" work done on the figures "which will be another great attraction to visit the Bethlehem of Spain next Christmas when we celebrate its 50th anniversary."
He also stressed that it is "the recovery of a significant part of the artistic heritage of all Sanjaviereños."
The mayor of Culture David Martinez recalled that the anniversary of the Bethlehem of Spain will also involve an integral remodeling of the ensemble belenístico that is installed on 500 square meters of the square of Spain, which already works the Association of Friends of Bethlehem who runs Luis Riquelme.
Martinez also highlighted the artistic quality of Jesus Griñán, one of the great Spanish nativity scene, which he predicted will be the preacher of Christmas in San Javier and the protagonist of this year's exhibition in the Parish, with a sample that will go all the way his history as an artist.
