The Santiago Apóstol Choir celebrates its 25th anniversary and will celebrate it with a commemorative concert for which the Symphonic Band of San Javier will participate, which will take place on Saturday 14 October at 8:00 pm in the Principe de Asturias Hall, Santiago de la Ribera
The Councilor for Culture David Martinez accompanied by the presidents of the Choir, Sebastián Moya and the Symphonic Band, Gregorio José González presented this morning the event "which brings together two great assets of culture in the municipality to celebrate the 25 years of history of the Coral ".
Sebastián Moya explained that the program of the concert includes a first part in which the Symphonic Band will perform several pieces such as Bizet's Carmen Suite;
followed by a second part starring the Choir in which they will perform, among other pieces, "La Ribera", a Havana composed by its director, Pedro Cabrera, to end a joint performance in which Canto a Murcia, La Parranda and the Hymn to Santiago de la Ribera, also by Pedro Cabrera.
Mari Carmen Teruel, who has been part of the Santiago Apóstol Choir since its creation in 1992, recalled the origins of the vocal formation "that already tried to impel the priest Juan Inza."
The insistence of the own Mari Carmen made that finally Pedro Cabrera, neighbor of the locality that was director of the Band of Music of the AGA, and Theorodo Vera, whom convinced in a pilgrimage of San Blas, acceded to promote the Coral if was able to form a large group of voices.
In a few days it gathered about 60 components and the Choir was launched without having ceased to have activity since then under the baton of Pedro Cabrera, a musician by profession who taught them the secrets of choral music to enthusiasts but little experienced neighbors who joined the adventure.
Currently the Coral has about 25 components and although they would like to be a larger group "we do not throw in the towel and we continue with great enthusiasm to fulfill many more", says Mari Carmen Teruel.
Gregorio José González, president of the San Javier Symphonic Band was delighted with this collaboration and recalled that next year marks the 10th anniversary of the Band for which he publicly requested the collaboration of the Choir, which was confirmed immediately by its responsible Sebastián Moya.
The edil of Culture David Martinez made an invitation to all the neighbors and all the lovers of the music to the concert that will have free entrance will be until completing capacity.
