The City of San Javier has decreed a day of official mourning from 00:00 today until 00:00 tomorrow Tuesday, October 17, due to the death today in Madrid at the 87-year-old general of the Army of the Air Francisco Javier Bautista who was Silver Medal and Favorite Son of the Villa of San Javier.
General Bautista was a native of La Calavera, San Javier, where he also named a park located on the Senda del Recuerdo.
His passion for aviation, his people and the Mar Menor led him to write articles, such as those published for years in the local newspaper "El Municipio", books, and to give lectures and talks about the importance that the Air Force has had historically in the region, especially since 1992 when it happened to the Reserve.
Although his multiple positions and occupations in the Air Force led him to reside outside the municipality he never lost the direct link with San Javier where he has always maintained his house to which he always came with Josefina Castaño and his four children.
Francisco Javier Bautista approached the Air Force as a volunteer aviation soldier and with a clear military vocation worked and prepared to get his entry in the 7th AGA Promotion.
Conducted courses of pilot of hunt and attack reactors, as well as pilot of transport planes of the Hercules C130, with which it participated in the evacuation of the Sahara.
His extensive military career also went through specialization in "Communications and Electronic Warfare" and was professor of jet pilots and studies at CESEDEN.
Among its many destinations is the Head of the Air Sector of Catalonia, Head of the EMA Plans Division and Head of the Grouping of the Air Force Headquarters, among others.
His family will offer tomorrow, October 17, a funeral Mass to be held at 18:00 in the church of San Javier.
