The weekly market of Thursdays in San Javier will be a little safer thanks to the collaboration of the sellers themselves who have responded positively to the municipal request to contribute with their vehicles to hinder the access road in the streets of access to the market.
Councilor for Public Safety Teresa Foncuberta reported that the market vendors were especially cooperative with this measure, which consists of crossing their vans and vehicles forming a barrier in order to cover the multiple streets of access to the market.
Foncuberta stressed that it is a passive security measure, which will also be implemented in the market of Santiago de la Ribera and the like, which is in line with what the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces is asking the municipalities to improve security especially in areas of usual competition or events repeated over time, as is the case of the markets.
The recommendation to block road access to areas of special competition after the last international attacks committed with vehicles, was launched last summer on the promenade with heavy elements, and in specific events with the crossing of police vehicles as the past October 28 in the representation of "Don Juan Tenorio", in the area of San Javier cemetery, recalled the mayor of Security, which reaffirmed the commitment of the City to continue implementing this type of measures.
