Nearly 200 farmers, technicians and managers of agricultural holdings attended yesterday afternoon in San Javier a technical seminar on "Integrated and dynamic management of plant nutrition for effective protection of the environment", organized by Cajamar, through its agricultural research center, and the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Region of Murcia.
The day, in which specialists from different parts of Spain addressed issues with the drag of nitrates to aquifers, organic fertilization and fertigation, is part of the program of training actions promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture to "consolidate and make visible the sustainable and compatible use of the agriculture of the Campo de Cartagena with the Environment ", said the Minister Francisco Jódar who opened the session together with the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo and the territorial director of Cajamar Caja Rural in Murcia, Emilio Valencia.
The Minister Francisco Jódar thanked the massive presence of representatives of the agricultural sector "who is the first interested in respect for the environment" and gave as an example of the rational use of water to the Region of Murcia "where 90 percent of irrigable surfaces they use fertirrigation, above any other agricultural area in Spain ".
Councilor Francisco Jódar reiterated the Regional Government's commitment to the use of groundwater and thanked the sector for its involvement in the coordination with the Administration.
It also announced pilot experiences with products that inhibit nitrification, while ensuring the continuity of training actions, advice and workshops in order to adapt the decree law of urgent measures to ensure environmental sustainability in the Mar Menor environment.
The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo thanked that the conference was held in San Javier where we all work to make compatible the two major economic sectors of the municipality tourism and agriculture.
Luengo manifested the municipal support to the agricultural sector whose repercussion to the local and regional economy as well as other values ​​such as research and technification are made known in a municipal campaign, "which was presented at the Fruit Attraction and with which we want to contribute to inform to society about the reality of the sector ".
The day lasted from 4 pm to 8 pm in the Assembly Hall of the City of San Javier with several interventions by experts from different universities and agricultural research centers on nitrate leaching, organic fertilization and its integration into the nitrogen balance according to Decree Law 1/2017;
fertirrigation in horticulture;
efficient management of fertigation in citrus fruits;
precision fertigation for efficient use of water and nitrogen;
and management strategy for the optimization of nitrogen fertilization in horticulture: Fertinnova project.
