Ciudadanos wants San Javier not to lose "another opportunity to improve" and has presented to the plenary session that will take place on Thursday a proposal for the municipality to opt for the call of the National Plan of Intelligent Territories of the Digital Agenda for Spain Smart Tourist Destinations. "It is about grants of up to 6 million euros to develop very intensive initiatives in the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in order to promote the transformation into smart tourist destinations and improve the environmental and energy sustainability of the tourist activity ", according to explained the orange spokesman, Antonio Murcia.
The call is intended for municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants and the budget of each initiative may not exceed 6 million euros.
Red.es will contribute with 80%, thanks to a co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the Smart Growth Operating Program.
The City Council should contribute 20%, which would imply an investment of 1.2 million euros: "We believe that it is in this type of initiatives where the PP Government team must make its promises to the tourism sector and its future, "said Murcia, who believes that" San Javier should not miss this opportunity if it wants to turn tourism into the engine of recovery and job creation. "
The initiatives presented may refer to energy efficiency programs, transparent and universal access to public data on services, measurement systems for citizen satisfaction, implementation of management systems, sensorization and provision of infrastructures and technological elements necessary to build or improve public services of value for the citizen and the visitor.
