A fish with festive flakes and carnivals announces the Carnival of Santiago de la Ribera 2018 that will be held from February 10 to 18.
The poster is the work of Rubén Lucas, of Torreagüera, winner of the contest convened by the comparsas commission to choose the image of the riparian carnival that this year includes as a novelty a night of Cabaret, according to the president of the commission, Ana Pérez.
The mayor of Celebrations, Pedro Lopez and the representative of the comparsas of the coastal carnival, Ana Pérez discovered the winning work in a crowded event held last Friday night in the "Araceli Rubio" room, in Santiago de la Ribera, where the order of performance of the muses candidates for Queen of Carnival was also raffled in a public way at the gala to be held on 10 February.
M.ª Carmen Ballester from "Olé Olá" will be the first muse to appear at the Queen's Choice Gala followed by Bárbara Ramírez from the comparsa "Los que faltaban";
Elena Gallego of "Déjate Llevar con los Pioneros";
Susana Sánchez from "Akelarre" and Judith Pardo from "Río".
On February 11, the Infant Queen will be chosen from seven candidates, in a day in which the canine carnival will also be celebrated.
The election of queens will mark the beginning of a week of carnival that will continue on the 13th with the children's carnival, and the 14th with the afternoon devoted to associations.
On days 15 and 16 will host the chirigotas and choreography contests, respectively, while on the 17th the increasingly crowded Pasabares Carnavalero will take place, which will have its carnival evening before the night of Cabaret, which opens this year.
The carnival parade will give off an intense week of carnival on the afternoon of Sunday, February 18.
The president of the carnival commission, Ana Pérez, presented the new website of the Santiago de la Ribera carnival that, in addition to offering the information of this edition, collects photos and videos from previous editions.
Perez recalled that the riverside carnival celebrates its 30th anniversary this year which has led to an exhibition that can be seen in the Barnuevo House from January 26 to February 17 with costumes, posters, photos and all kinds of objects that revive the visitor the 30 years of life of the carnival of Santiago de la Ribera.
The mayor of Celebrations Pedro López thanked the work developed from the carnival commission as well as the comparsas to enhance a carnival party that celebrates 30 years and for which he reiterated the municipal commitment and declaration of Regional Tourist Interest.
