The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo today transferred his unconditional support to the demands of the taxi drivers grouped in Union Radio Taxi Mar Menor, of San Javier to operate in the future taxi service at the Corvera airport during the meeting that has maintained this tomorrow at the City Hall of San Javier with the president of the taxi drivers association José Luis Pascual Hernández.
The mayor, who was accompanied by the councilman of Transportation, Antonio Martinez, informed the president of Union Radio Taxi Mar Menor that he has already requested a meeting with the counselor of the Presidency and Development, Pedro Rivera in which he will ask taxi drivers from San Javier they can operate at the new airport "since they would be especially harmed by the closure of the San Javier airport".
"The closure of an airport requires exceptional compensation measures to the affected municipality, which in this case is San Javier," explained Mayor José Miguel Luengo, who showed his commitment to local taxi drivers in defense of their interests.
"The taxi drivers of San Javier that operate in the current airport must have their space in the mobility solutions that are adopted for the new airport," he added.
The president of Union Radio Taxi Mar Menor, José Luis Pascual thanked the municipal support in the defense of their demands that consist of guaranteeing that at least part of the 18 licenses with which the association counts can operate freely in the new airport.
This was what José Luis Pascual moved at a meeting recently convened by the president of the Autonomous Community Fernando López Miras and the adviser Pedro Rivera with representatives of the taxi sector to address issues related to connectivity and mobility at the new airport.
