The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás announced today in San Javier that the regional government has approved the expansion of 13 more public places in the Association for the Integration of the Disabled in the District of Mar Menor (Aidemar), during a visit to the center where she was accompanied by the mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo, the Councilor for Social Services, Estíbaliz Masegosa and the president of Aidemar, Francisco Javier García.

Counselor Violante Tomás explained that five new places will be expanded in the day care center for people with intellectual disabilities in which the Ministry has 55 places arranged, and eight more places in the residence where it already has 33 public places.

For the counselor it is a "good news" as the expansion of places "will mean being able to incorporate more people to these magnificent services offered by an association that was a pioneer in the care of disability from the first days of life."

The expansion of places in Aidemar will mean an increase of 500,000 euros in the investment of the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities in the care of people with disabilities belonging to this association of San Javier, up to 1,744,000 euros.

Violante Tomás expressed his satisfaction with the services provided by Aidemar and defended "the current formula of public places managed by non-profit associations, such as Aidemar, where not only people with disabilities are cared for but also families".

The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo encouraged the regional government to continue supporting Aidemar whose representatives congratulated "because this expansion of public places demonstrates the confidence and support for the 34 years of work that endorse Aidemar."

The president of the Association, Francisco Javier García thanked the efforts of the Ministry "that values ​​both the welfare work and family, work and social integration that takes place in Aidemar," and the City of San Javier for their continued support.
