The colonel director of the General Air Academy, Miguel Ivorra presented today the events that are celebrated during 2018 to commemorate the 75 years of existence of the military institution in which it has trained more than 10,000 officers of the Air Force and added more of 935,000 flight hours.
The international air show of June 9 on the Mar Menor will be the most multitudinous act of an anniversary whose central act will take place on May 11 with the assistance of a high authority of the State, advanced Colonel Miguel Ivorra.
In one of the hangars of the military compound, flanked by planes, members of the Eagle Patrol, students and staff of the center, Colonel Miguel Ivorra thanked the institutional support shown to the AGA on its 75th anniversary in an event that was attended by the President of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras;
the General Division Chief of the General Air Command, José Alfonso Otero;
the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, the mayor of Los Alcázares, Anastasio Bastida;
the mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez and the mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León.
The institutional act of the 75th Anniversary will take place in the AGA on May 11 when the imposition is envisaged, by a high authority of the State, of the Order of Civil Merit to the General Air Academy, whose petition to the Government has been sent through the Commission for the Defense of Congress, with a motion of support from the Regional Assembly of Murcia.
Colonel Miguel Ivorra said that it will be a historic day because all the planes that have flown in the AGA since its inception will be present.
On the weekend of June 8 and 9, a static exhibition will be held in an open day and an international air show with the participation of the Águila Acrobatic Patrol, the Frecce Tricolori, from Italy and the Patrouille Acrobatique from France, and the ASPA and PAPEA patrols, which is expected to exceed 300,000 people who attended the last air festival held on the Mar Menor in 2006. A gala in which the Music Unit of the AGA and Los Parranboleros will perform on September 14, a painting contest for the youngest, and various civilian flag swearings like the one that will take place in Lorca on April 14, or Jumilla accompanied by an exhibition of historical photography, complete the program presented this morning in which there is also sport as a popular race of the 75th anniversary, on May 20.
The president of the Region of Murcia Fernando López Miras who pointed out the identification of the Air Force with the Region of Murcia, the only one with two air bases, took the opportunity to announce the award to the AGA of the Necktie of Honor of the Region of Murcia. Murcia that will be imposed on the events of June 9.
López Miras pointed out the linkage of the AGA with San Javier and the whole region and highlighted the values ​​of work, effort and honesty that the institution shows as an example for the Region of Murcia.
