The municipal service of urban waste collection and street cleaning opens new headquarters (05/04/2018)

The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo today highlighted the efficiency and functionality of the new headquarters of the collection service for urban solid waste, road cleaning and recycling during the inauguration of the new infrastructure that occupies 2,752 square meters of municipal property in the High Polygon of the Villar II, of San Javier.

The director of Zona de FCC, the service concessionaire, Manuel Ramínez and the Councilor for Public Services, María Dolores Ruiz accompanied the mayor at the inauguration ceremony attended by several members of the municipal corporation and the concessionaire that has taken over the spending about 500,000 euros on the construction of the building whose ownership will revert to the City when the contract ends.

The new ship, which will come into operation in the coming days, is designed for the maintenance, washing, fuel supply of all mobile service units, such as waste collection trucks, sweepers and other auxiliary vehicles.

The infrastructure has 1800 square meters closed, an interior courtyard of 800 meters for washing and refueling vehicles, and an area of ​​200 meters with several units that includes changing rooms, dining room, management offices and direct citizen service.

José Miguel Luengo highlighted the impetus that the new headquarters will entail in the bet the municipality is making as it is increasingly efficient in terms of street cleaning, garbage collection and recycling collection.

"Nobody remembers the time when resources were lacking," said the mayor in reference to the improvement experienced since the launch of the new service, at the end of 2014, which has involved the renewal and full expansion of available resources for more modern and functional ones.

The improvement of the service and the increase of containers and clean points has been accompanied by an increase in recycling figures, said the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo.

The year 2016 closed with an increase of 14% in the collection of plastic, and 13% in the paper and cardboard.

Glass collection exceeded 900,000 kilos with an increase of 7 in the summer season while that of clothing, footwear and toys increased by 31.6%.

José Miguel Luengo pointed out that "not everything is done," and he considered it necessary to continue working on citizen awareness "because not everything depends on the infrastructure of the service, but there is a very important task that depends on each one of us".

Luengo added that "San Javier aspires to be a cleaner municipality, which requires citizen collaboration as it must be a challenge for everyone."

Luengo highlighted the service of direct attention to the citizen that includes the new headquarters, from 08:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., as well as the telephone 900103713 that works 24 hours a day, 365 days a year where users can report any incident. With the service.

He also recalled the Línea Verde phone application, which works successfully in municipal public services, through which neighbors can report incidents in lighting or public roads, with immediate resolution.
