The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo today transferred to regional president Fernando López Miras and his advisors the intention of the Government team of San Javier to host the collection of old aircraft from the Infante de Orleans Foundation in the municipality.
The permanent exhibition of the 44 aircraft and the monthly exhibition organized by the Foundation, under the Ministry of Defense, would be "a tourist and economic revulsive for Santiago de la Ribera" explained the mayor during the press conference he offered with the spokesperson Regional Government Noelia Arroyo after the Government Council held this morning at the City of San Javier.
José Miguel Luengo, who participated in the first part of the meeting of the Governing Council of the Region of Murcia, thanked President Fernando López Miras for his commitment to the success of the project "that would help offset the closure to civil use of the San Javier".
Luengo explained that "it is working at all levels to get the permanent headquarters of the Foundation that is currently in Cuatrovientos and also claim Segovia and Getafe.
Luengo recalled that 2018 is an important year for the 75th anniversary of the AGA in the municipality "where all the pilots of the Spanish Army are trained" and was confident in being able to announce in the coming months another project as a result of the municipality's commitment to Aeronautical Culture "with a unique product in Santiago de la Ribera" in reference to the future Center dedicated to aviation projected in the town with entrance from the Paseo Colón adjoining the AGA site.
At a press conference, the mayor of San Javier explained that he had thanked the president and his advisers for the efforts of the regional government in the recovery of the Mar Menor and highlighted the creation of the General Directorate of the Mar Menor that occupies the former councilor of the City Council. Among the regional investments were some already carried out such as the renovation of sanitation pipes on the promenade, "which in addition to preventing possible leaks, has facilitated the recovery of water for irrigation by lowering the conductivity".
The shortage of water was another issue that moved Luengo to the Governing Council which also raised "my concern for the latest demonstrations against the transfer of the Tagus made by the Secretary General of the PSOE."
In the first part of the Government Council, dedicated to San Javier, the new building for the expansion of the Mar Menor IES was also discussed, "our polytechnic that will host all the training cycles that are taught in the municipality", whose project is in tender .
The details of the imminent investment of four million euros in the improvement of road accesses to the municipality, including the Pozo Aledo roundabout, were also addressed.
