The Minister of Family and Equality of Opportunities, Violante Tomás and the Councilor for Social Services of the City of San Javier, Estíbaliz Masegosa closed today the Intergenerational Conference that has been held in the Barnuevo esplanade, in Santiago de la Ribera, between the People's Center Older of the IMAS, of San Javier and the students of the superior cycle of Animation Technician of Physical and Sports Activities, of the IES "Mar Menor".
La Jornada, which began at 10 am, brought together about 200 elderly people, with the centers of Roldan and Cieza as guests, and 80 young people who have been responsible for organizing a morning full of activities with different stations dedicated to popular games and activities of soft movement for those who were rotating the attendees that ended with a convivial meal at the Municipal Center for the Elderly, Santiago de la Ribera.
Councilor for Social Services, Estibalia Masegosa stressed the importance of this type of activities "mutual enrichment" between young students and seniors, which closes other joint activities carried out throughout the course.
The counselor Violante Tomás congratulated the organizers and reiterated the regional government's double commitment to the elderly, on the one hand towards dependents with 22,000 users of residences, day centers or home care in the Region, and on the other with " the elderly "to have an active aging, through the IMAS centers in the Region that have 100,000 members, through activities such as the one held today in Santiago de la Ribera.
