A total of 65 volunteers, who included 14 children, gathered last weekend more than 500 kilograms of rubbish in the course of a cleanup action at the beach, rocks and seabed in La Manga del Mar Menor organized by Puerto Escondido collaboration with the Department of Environment of the City of San Javier, and Balkysub.
The large group of volunteers who spontaneously was added a swimmer, took also 5 networks, 1 anchor, and up to 2 "dead" for the attachment of vessels.
The group was formed in the breakwater of Zambra and was working for a morning in the Canal del Estacio.
After counting garbage collection, replenished forces with a barbecue.
The Councillor for the Environment, José Luis Espinosa stressed the importance of such actions "that are increasingly common, both by the cleaning action itself, as its contribution to increased public awareness of the need to respect the environment beach. "
Espinosa reiterated his department's support to these activities and made an appeal "to both swimmers and boaters to help keep our beaches clean and seabed."
