The mayor of San Javier, Pepa García accompanied by the Security council, Manuel Leal, and the police chief last night presented Matías Romero Secure Trade program which aims to "encourage the participation of merchants in their own safety and that of their business "the Mayor said to representatives of trade associations of San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera.
Garcia explained that the program affects the direct communication with merchants and agents in the discussion on safer behaviors in the trading environment and in the early resolution to incidents that may arise.
The program starts today on a permanent basis is coupled with a new sector of the municipality which will lower the foot patrol of two officers in specific areas.
The officers will, thus, a greater physical presence in retail environments visit the establishments will be given a "Practical Guide to the merchant-led security, with recommendations on measures to secure our trade, as well as to business development and management receipts and payments.
The guide, which includes suggestions from the traders themselves, also deals with practical advice on how to deal with a suspect and to specific criminal acts.
The agents handed the phone with a sticker with emergency phones that are always visible.
The program in the first phase will be operational from Monday to Friday during business hours, including preparation of specifications for each trade, which include contacts where agents can call in an incident outside the opening hours.
The mayor of San Javier, Pepa Garcia explained that every six months will meet a monitoring committee made up of Local Police and traders to evaluate results and adjust the program to the needs at all times.
Pepa Garcia stressed that this action is part of the effort made by the Local Police Force in prevention and citizen security matters and adds to other programs, participating in the spirit of nearby agents, such as the surveillance on beaches, el servicio de inspección y seguridad ciudadana en mercados, o el programa de seguridad en el entorno de los institutos de secundaria.
