San Javier recorded in 2010, a total of 429 accidents (16/02/2011)

The streets and highways of San Javier recorded during the past year a total of 429 traffic accidents with no fatalities, said yesterday the mayor, Pepa García.

On Monday, followed on Wednesday and Saturday is the day of the week that most accidents occurred during 2010.

The distraction and failure to observe traffic signals are listed as main reasons for accidents.

The Mayor referred to the memory 2010 of the Local Police of San Javier yesterday in a ceremony which unveiled the "Secure Trade" before a group of traders, and accompanied by the mayor Manuel Leal and Security Chief Local police, Matías Romero.

According to data provided by Pepa Garcia, the local police in San Javier made a total of 922 complaints during 2010, driven largely by closing time, the law of public safety, and street vending.

4,385 reports were also made, mostly requested by the courts, 6,794 parts, 55 inspections, and withdrew a total of 364 road vehicles.

Garcia recalled that the Local Police Force is currently composed of 66 agents and 7 other practices to be incorporated permanently to the staff since June, working with public service role for risk prevention and crime among the population, and highlighted some special program launched last year on security.

The mayor referred to the surveillance at the weekly markets of the municipality that two officers patrolling on foot and carrying trained 114 complaints about illegal sales.

Also within a program developed in collaboration with secondary schools there were 17 students in truancy for special surveillance is mounted in the facility during the times of entry, recreation and output.

Prevention efforts and closeness between actors and citizens also materializes in the beach monitoring program, which was launched last summer and works with 2 patrol officers from 11:00 to 02:00 h.

Pepa García referred to the successful operation of more recent programs such as preferential treatment for victims of gender violence, intensive care or in parks and gardens in the municipality.
