The Library invites citizens to speak in public to share their knowledge with others (24/02/2011)

The mayor of San Javier Pepa Garcia, accompanied by the coordinator of public libraries in San Javier, Toni Diaz and representatives of various local associations, presented this morning in the Library a collaborative training project that will allow citizens to speak in public on any subject of having knowledge or experience in the library and municipal support.

The project "you know. Come to the library and tell" is promoted by the Regional Library "but we've enriched by involving local associations that have responded quickly."

The Phone of Hope San Javier, the Bank of Time AIKE Mar Menor and the departments of Youth and Local Development have already committed to participate to promote the participation of both exhibition and audiences.

Pepa Garcia explained that "any person, without being an expert in the art, can express themselves and contribute to the wider community their knowledge on any topic, from how to renegotiate a mortgage, how to organize a trip, about an author, a book, healthy lifestyles, art, farming, or how to save, including hundreds of topics that may be proposed, except those with a commercial interest.

Those interested can now apply at the library, biblioteca@sanjavier.es via email or by fax at 968 33 44 12.

The library staff will evaluate the outreach projects whose date will be agreed with the applicant, who will have a room, audiovisual material, if required, and publicity of the event.

The project was no expiration so that applications may be submitted at any time.

The mayor of San Javier, Pepa García encouraged to participate to "everyone who has something to say and have wanted to communicate to others."

Garcia said that this project is to "learn from what others know and that others learn from what I do, but also falls in line with social inclusion, as it contributes at the same time, to encourage contact between the community and improve relationships among its members. "

Toni Diaz said that a proposal is "cheap and simple, it can be very useful if you manage to give depth and involve the whole society through the many existing partnerships."

The library coordinator said the usefulness of this project for students "who can test their thesis published before filing, or for any student who has to make a public display of a job."
