The mayor of San Javier, Pepa García distinctions delivered last night to mark the Day of Women's Rights Equality granted the council of eight women, one in every hamlet in the municipality.

Pepa García, accompanied by the mayor Maria Angeles Chum and the president of the association "April", Celia Martinez, was appointed and receiving distinguished women in 2011: María Isabel González, La Manga, Emilia Soler, Santiago de la Ribera , Maria Dolores Valverde, San Javier, Natividad Pérez, La Grajuela; Teresa Duarte, San Cayetano, Mercedes Gracia, El Mirador, Mercedes Espinosa, Pozo Aledo, and Sacramento drapes, de Roda.
The event was held during the masquerade that took place in the carnival tent Santiago de la Ribera.
The housewives associations of San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera also attended accompanied by the president of the federation of associations Murcia housewives, Juana Perez attended the ceremony.
Francesca La Torre, acting chairman of the housewives of San Javier was commissioned to convey to the Mayor and the tribute that the housewives gave him "for being the first woman mayor of our town."
