The Department of Environment of the municipality of San Javier has launched a plan to promote organic farming in the municipality through school gardens and urban council said on the Environment, José Luis Espinosa.
The first action is focusing on schools, some of whom had abandoned orchards are now recovering and at school "La Paz", in San Javier.
In the garden of the school "La Paz", and the rest, no fertilizer is used so that students can appreciate the organic farming, both for the care of the environment and for the value added in food.
The mayor José Luis Espinosa said "school gardens are the priority of the council and the education of the youngest in organic farming and natural values ​​involved, ensuring a more sustainable future."
To encourage the rehabilitation or creation of such gardens in schools in the municipality, the council will offer to all teachers in schools and colleges of San Javier a school garden workshop which will give the association "biosecurity", to train all teachers in practice and implementation of school garden.
The technical services of Environment with the collaboration of the Bureau of Heritage are making an inventory of municipal parcels that could be upgraded for use as urban gardens.
