The Department of Environment participates in the program PATRAS funded by the European Commission through the Intelligent Energy for Europe, EIE, which aims to promote renewable energy in buildings.
The program involving Spain, Austria, Croatia, Estonia, Italy, Romania and Czech Republic is conducting a training program which in addition to training, provides technical assistance and mentoring to promote effective policies for the introduction of renewable energy in buildings.
Some of the objectives of this program, which also involved two other municipalities in Murcia, Ceuta Alguazas and are the drafting and improvement of regulations that affect buildings, and procedures for promoting "green purchasing and procurement."
It also includes the preparation of the Plans of Action for the Sustainable Energy develops the Covenant of Mayors which has joined the municipality of San Javier.
The training sessions in Spain are being developed at the Center for Research Resources and Energy Consumption, CIRCE, Zaragoza.
