The mayor of San Javier, Pepa Garcia, accompanied by the director general of the General Archive of the Region of Murcia, Rafael Collado Frese, and the Historic Archive of Protocols Guipúzcoa, Ramón Martín Suquía has opened this morning in the auditorium of the City of San Javier a course on "Standardization of archival description" which involves 40 archivists from throughout the region.
The course which will last until tomorrow afternoon, organized by the School of Local Administration, moved to San Javier on the occasion of 175 anniversary of the segregation of the municipality of San Javier in Murcia, as the mayor explained to the participants in the opening of the course.
Pepa Garcia praised the figure of the archivist in the administration "as a guarantor of citizens' rights" and thanked the work of "silent but vitally important to the Administration.
Ramón Martín Suquía, vice chairman of the Local Standards of archival description and professor, thanked the Mayor's words "because it demonstrates the Administration's new sensitivity to our work."
In the opening ceremony of the course there was also room for "a sense of solidarity remember" Lorca in the words of general director of Archives regional, Rafael Fresneda who explained that the "Lorca's documentary heritage so fragile at other times, there has been notable damage in the earthquake.
