Residents and visitors to the town and were able to see how different corners of San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera 70 or 60 years ago in images that have been placed in public places where these snapshots were taken between 40 and 70 century past.
The mayor of San Javier, Pepa Garcia explained that the initiative, which is part of the 175 anniversary program, intends to show at a glance the physical evolution of such emblematic places as the City Council and its square, beach and ancient shrine of Santiago of the Bank, or the original Ducks Park San Javier, among others.
In total there are 15 metal plates, 8 and 7 in San Javier Santiago de la Ribera, which are printed photographic image, bolted to walls, so you can see from the street at any time.
The images have been strategically placed looking the same plane in which the photographs were taken, mostly belonging to the municipal archives, and also to file the Academia General del Aire.
Plates placed mostly in urban centers, are the Town Hall and the plaza as it was in the 40's, the church and square of San Javier in the 50's, the same era in which photographed the French-style garden with which it is endowed later known as Parque de Los Patos.
Especially striking are also photographs of Santiago de la Ribera with a nascent Paseo Colon in the 60's and still undeveloped stretches where the sand come to the forefront of housing some of which exist today.
The crossing between Sandoval and Barnuevo Avenue, as it was in the 50's, and the shrine in the 60 existing in the same place where he built the present church of Santiago de la Ribera are other images you can find in environments remain the same throughout the year to celebrate the 175 anniversary of the establishment of the Municipality of San Javier.
