Lebeche beach in La Manga del Mar Menor is open as normal this morning, and in part from Sunday, after meeting health outcomes indicate that water are suitable for swimming.
A total of 600 meters of that beach were closed as a precaution on Friday due to a spill that occurred in the area due to a problem with the pumping station nearby, which was solved shortly thereafter.
The protocol for urgent action will continue until end of season
The municipality of San Javier remains active until the end of the tourist season the protocol approved emergency last Friday to prevent and avoid as much as possible as new episodes have occurred in recent days, and ensure the immediate intervention if necessary.
The emergency protocol includes a checkpoint guarded 24 hours a day until the end of the season in each pumping station, the provision of a truck and flushing Unlock Cuba of 24 hours a day, the backup pump rental available at each pumping station, if necessary for the immediate replacement, and an increase in Civil Protection personnel to care for users.
