The mayor of San Javier, Juan Martinez, accompanied by all his government team met this morning in the city to the group of 173 young pilgrims hosted by Norwegian families in the municipality until 15 August when he will leave for Madrid to attend World Youth Day Youth called by Pope Benedict XVI.
Episcopal Vicar for the Mar Menor, San Javier and pastor, Jose Leon and the Bishop of Tromso (Norway), Berislav Grgic headed the large group composed of young people between 16 and 25 who arrived yesterday in San Javier, and that this afternoon will join 35 young people in Bosnia and four Argentines, who will be welcomed by families in Santiago de la Ribera.
Juan Martinez wished them a happy stay in San Javier and conveyed "the solidarity of the municipality of San Javier with the Norwegian people for the tragedy suffered recently."
Martinez was confident it will be enriching exchange of experiences "with you as pilgrims and welcoming us as a people."
After presenting the municipality, the mayor, Juan Martinez, acknowledged the work of the parishes of San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera, foster families, as well as over 40 volunteers who have participated in organizing the reception with which also assists the City Council.
Parishes of the host organizers have prepared a full program of activities that began this morning with visits to various municipal facilities like the swimming pool where they finished in the morning.
A religious activities of living and add other entertainment, as days of beach, barbecue joint in San Blas, a Spanish party with disco-Mobile in Plaza of Spain, a boat trip on the Mar Menor, Murcia and a day Aug. 13 to participate along with other pilgrims in the region Diocesan Day.
