The Department of Environment expands to 54 the number of containers for oil recycling (19/09/2011)

The Department of Environment has launched an awareness campaign on recycling used cooking oil in the municipality for which it has expanded the number of containers distributed in different municipalities, which have increased from 33 to 54 current .

The 21 new ones have been built through a grant from the Autonomous Community of Murcia, are orange and are located next to the points of recycling plastic and cardboard city's busiest.

Indeed, one of the busiest, the Dos Mares shopping center, is the Region of Murcia where the greatest number of liters of used oil collected.

Recycling used cooking oil is done by storing the oil in plastic containers which citizens can enter directly into the container.

The Department advises in all its actions on the need to recycle household waste including used oil for which supplies a bottle mouth plastic funnel that facilitates the transfer of oil, for example in a plastic bottle used that once filled may be deposited in the container.

From the Department of Environment is recalled that the used cooking oil is a residue that is seriously detrimental to municipal sanitation systems and wastewater adversely affecting the environment to be a breeding ground for the proliferation of organisms harmful to health, what to avoid pouring it down the sink.

The recycling of this type of oil, allows, among other things, the manufacture of soaps, lubricants, organic fertilizers and bio-fuels such as biodiesel obtained from one liter per liter of recycled vegetable oil.
