The municipality of San Javier curtly denies he has ordered the immediate evacuation shelter for dogs, let alone ordered any animal sacrifice as he was accused in anonymous texts that circulate in social networks and emails.
Moreover, consider that it is "nonsense" that can not be ignored, and that hides the reality.
Background and current
The reality is that on 22 September, the Local Government Board had to declare void the public call for the provision of shelter and support services for abandoned or stray animals in the absence of tenders, despite invitations repeatedly to the local protective dealing center.
Protective declined in writing, as is the case of La Fortaleza, (association breakaway four-legged friends wearing the Centre) early in August, presented to tender for the service.
The contract documents included the payment of 28,000 euros per year and maintenance of municipal facilities, with a commitment to improve the offer, with an additional contribution of human and material resources.
Liability
Given this legal vacuum, taking into account the responsibility of the City Council on the matter was decided to contract for 1 year service with the Adoption Center and Animal Collection Company (CEREC), which offers a professionalized response technique in order to give legal cover to the City in any situation related to pets in public areas, at an annual cost of 18.000euros.
In legal matters, in addition, the requirement of the Directorate General of Livestock and Fisheries to the City of San Javier to close the shelter by not fulfilling the legal requirements to be considered a center zoo.
Be reconvened in the service and invite the protective
The Department of Health intends, after this year, returning to hold a competition for the award of service with the hope that the local shelter, now split by internal problems, organized and can meet service management, thus fulfilling the objective from the outset has been the Department of Health.
This is precisely why, at the beginning of the new legislature, the new government team decided to contact the animal shelters and extend the deadline for public grant competition held in the former government team, which concluded, to facilitate the participation of local protection.
Satisfaction with success in adoptions
The Department of Health is still in touch and about the process of adoption of shelter dogs, which according to reports has been a success.
From the first time local media offered for adoption urgent campaign and longer than expected, during the month of October to try to reposition the maximum number of dogs before the end of the shelter.
Today there are 88 dogs on the premises, of which 23 have been adopted by German and travel to that country, and another 22 have already committed to the adoption by residents of the area.
Now the goal is the adoption of the remaining 40 for which there are still two weeks as the deadline, so it is very likely to achieve all animals adopted through the good work and efforts of all.
