The Department of Parks and Gardens awarded the maintenance service of various gardens and parks of the municipality to the Special Employment Centre Aideman with which it has signed a contract that provides employment to 34 physically and mentally disabled.
Municipal parks are under the care of these workers, trained in Aideman facilities and work experience, are the park Midwife Benita Thomas, La Rambla, General Baptist, Atalayon, and Castillo, among others.
Councillor Parks and Gardens, Celia Martinez explained that the contract documents for the award provided for the participation in Special Employment Centres, in order to promote integration of disabled employees in the work environment maintenance and upkeep of gardens and children's games.
Celia Martinez stressed "the need to promote equality of opportunity in our society and the importance of access to a job to achieve such equality effectively."
The councilor added that since parks and gardens "we understand that working with living material is rich and dynamic, so we get to join this contract providing good service to the municipality with a social order of integration, visibility and development of people ".
