The municipality of San Javier has initiated a plan to adjust sidewalks to accessibility standards, and overall improvement in 21 streets in the municipality.
The works, which will last seven months and concluded in April 2012, was made through the Employment Development Program Office, the Directorate General of Employment and Training Regional of the Region of Murcia, which provides a total of 19 workers who were unemployed, of which 9 are operators, 9 officers and a manager, as reported by the Councillor for Public Services, José Miguel Luengo.
Luengo said that the works consist of the construction of ramps to facilitate movement of people with physical disabilities, wheelchairs and strollers and other repair deficiencies in the streets that are the subject of this program.
Utility The mayor added that his department's intention to continue this kind of works, so, gradually, to complete the map of accessibility in the municipality of San Javier reaching all local public spaces.
The streets in which to perform the works of improvement are St. Francis Xavier Avenue, a stretch of the street Colmenar Viejo, Spanish Aviation Avenue, streets October 31, North, Outside the Walls, Menéndez Pidal, Union Avenue, streets Joaquin Castejón, May 1, Parque Almansa in San Javier, and several stretches of the streets Canovas del Castillo, Querubina Meroño Jimenez Bernal, Santa Teresa, San Juan, the Virgin of Charity, Juan Ramon Jimenez and Virgin Avenue Loreto Street Charity in Santiago de la Ribera.
